ICM, a TAG Company, is seeking a Building Automation Systems Technician for commercial service work in and around the Corpus Christi, TX area
Role Summary:
The Building Automation Systems (BAS) Technician is responsible for the installation, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of building IoT control systems. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of BAS installation, programming, and servicing, while ensuring customer satisfaction and compliance with project requirements.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Install and service low-voltage building automation control products and equipment on assigned projects.
- Utilize hand tools and laptop computers to install, diagnose, repair, and program BAS/HVAC systems and equipment according to blueprints and engineering specifications.
- Analyze project drawings and plans to coordinate and execute assigned work efficiently.
- Perform on-site installation and repairs by examining building layout, anticipating challenges, gathering materials, and coordinating work.
- Diagnose and repair BAS control systems at customer locations.
- Conduct preventive maintenance, site surveys, replacements, and modifications as needed or requested.
- Determine parts required for repairs and ensure timely ordering and availability.
- Complete necessary documentation and maintain accurate records for each job.
- Provide technical assistance to colleagues and offer guidance on BAS systems.
- Conduct customer training and follow-up support as needed.
- Collaborate with sales, engineering, and installation teams to standardize processes and leverage best practices.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Exceptional customer-facing skills and a commitment to customer satisfaction.
- Proven experience with HVAC/BAS systems and building operations.
- Working knowledge of BAS system graphics, trends, and reports.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Technical and mathematical aptitude for analyzing control system drawings and schematics.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Willingness to travel to customer and project sites as needed.
- Mobility for office and construction job site activities.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
- Hands-on field experience with low-voltage BAS installation, service, and repair.
- Familiarity with BACnet, Tridium R2, FX, and/or AX systems (certifications are a plus).
- Knowledge of electrical systems, IP networking, and basic mechanical systems.
- Ability to adapt quickly to new software and computer interfaces.
- Comfortable working in a construction environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and basic programming.
Education & Qualifications:
- Minimum: High School Diploma or GED.
- Preferred: Associate degree from a two-year college or technical school in HVAC, Building Automation Systems, Integrated Electronic Systems, or a related field.
- 2-3 years of HVAC, BAS, or relevant industry experience.
- Proven track record of reliable, on-time work.
- Experience using electrical testing and metering devices.
